SONOBUOYS
A tactical sonar system used to detect and transmit submarine activity, the sonobuoy is a core technology in anti-submarine warfare. Sparton manufactures both active sonobuoys—which emit sound energy into the water and listen for returning echoes— and passive sonobuoys, which detect sound waves without transmitting.
With more than 6 million sonobuoys delivered to the U.S. and international customers over the past 60 years, Sparton continues to serve as a trusted supplier to these militaries, delivering the most effective sensor capabilities for Anti-Submarine Warfare.

Maritime Payload Delivery Systems
As a leader in the design, development and manufacturing of sonobuoys and maritime systems for the U.S. Navy, we are paving the way to be a leader in parallel technologies that align with current and future Navy technology roadmaps.
Our partnership with the U.S. government is even more critical today as non-allied nations continue to expand their capabilities to operate in the maritime domain under, on, and above the surface of the world’s oceans.
At least 41 nations operate more than 450 submarines, along with a growing number of surface vessels and unmanned platforms, across both deep-water and near-shore areas. We stand ready to deliver advanced capabilities that support both current and future Undersea Warfare (USW) and Anti-Submarine Warfare (ASW) missions and tactics.
