
HVAC Systems
HVAC (Heating, Ventilation, and Air Conditioning) systems are designed to regulate temperature and humidity, creating comfortable and controlled environments through efficient heating and cooling processes. These systems can rely on a range of technologies, including vapor compression, heat pumps, Peltier cooling, vortex tubes, PTC electric heaters, and waste engine heat.
Our systems primarily use the vapor compression cycle for cooling and leverage either waste engine heat or electric heating elements for warmth—an approach familiar to anyone with experience in gasoline or electric vehicles.

Fundamental elements
- Compressor: The compressor is responsible for circulating the refrigerant between the evaporator and condenser in the vapor compression cycle air conditioner. It acts as the system's engine and can be driven electrically or mechanically, often parasitically off an engine, such as a vehicle engine or an APU, similar to a car.
- Evaporator: The evaporator is a heat exchanger that absorbs heat from the air to cool the conditioned space, lowering the air temperature within the chamber. The refrigerant gas transfers the absorbed heat to the condenser.
- Condenser: The condenser is another heat exchanger that releases heat from the refrigerant gas into the surrounding environment.
- Heater: The heater is a heat exchanger that provides warmth to the conditioned space using heat from either a hot engine coolant or an electric grid heater.
- Fans: Fans move air over the heat exchangers, distributing conditioned air within the space and expelling heat into the environment.
- Ducts: Ducts play a crucial role in spreading the conditioned air evenly, ensuring a cozy and consistent environment in the chamber. It’s essential to have proper ducting to prevent drastic temperature differences and avoid any uncomfortable hot or cold spots for the occupants.
- Thermostats: Thermostats are handy for automatically managing cooling and heating settings and maintaining a comfortable atmosphere without manual adjustmments.
- Auxiliary Components: Auxiliary components like filters and humidifiers can be added to enhance air quality and increase comfort levels in the conditioned space.
Our HVAC Equipment
At Elbit America, our military MRAP vehicles have heating and cooling services. MRAP, or Mine Resistant Ambush Protected, are essentially armored trucks. The addition of HVAC systems is a considerable improvement in the military world because it aids in reducing discomfort and, in turn, can increase focusing capacities.
